For all my wonderful butterfly animators,
I'm sending out the puppets to you now! As you'll find, they're very to the point and simple.
To animate your butterfly or butterflies, I'd suggest copying the frames of the puppet and pasting them in a new document (with the size at 1280 x 720) and animating within that document. You can save your files as background_butterfly_YOURNAMEHERE_001.fla. For now, I would like butterflies that are flying around the screen- not too erratic, generally a nice Left to right or right to left motion would be good. Some hovering butterflies would be great as well.
Also, along with the file I animated from the lecture, I'm also sending along Dana Corrigan's butterfly file for you to look at and learn from, which was done through the methods she describes in her tutorial, which has also been uploaded.
It's a bit different than what I've been teaching, as it relies on motion tween and paths. It also briefly discussing actually MAKING the puppet, which is a plus for anyone out there interested in making a custom puppet.
Also, I personally don't mind which method you choose to go with as far as animating these butterflies, I just want it to look good! Be sure to reference videos of actual butterflies, please!
These files are only going to be given to crew members of Test Flight- sorry, casual viewers of the blog :)
